The Great Tempest in a Bottle is a multimedia online exhibition that combines the phrases “a tempest in a teapot” and “the genie is out of the bottle” to describe the virality of internet cultures. These kooky ideas, once introduced to the mainstream, cannot be pushed back into their small corner of the internet to be forgotten. The exhibition's four series use memes from online communities to celebrate and critique internet culture's lasting effects as an impermanent medium.
